EVOLUTION OF THE FLAG

For those of you out there who are history buffs, I figured I would give you all a glimpse into the creation of our official logo. The original design was hastily created during an epiphany. It was a crude mock up of my ultimate vision, but it formed the basis of what would eventually become the infamous pirate lobster flag.

The legend continues after the jump...

The first major changes came in the form of cleaning up the knifewrenches, most notably the serrated edge and separation from the lobster. We also tried to determine what to do about the lobster antennae which were a little distracting.

Eventually we decided to just remove the antennae, as it gave the lobster a much cleaner look. The body was also slightly widened to help fill out the flag

Next, the body was again widened to make the lobster more imposing. The tail, legs and antenna were also cleaned up and made more symmetrical. We also had to choose what style of leg we wanted to go with.

Ultimately the straight style claw was chosen and the the lobster was reunited with a sharpened version of the knifewrenches. The end result being the intimidating flag we have come to know today.

As a bonus here are some other designs that we tested, but for one reason or another didn't seem to work quite as well as the original concept.
